Unexplored Diaries - Odisha Andhra Chattisgarh Solo Bike Ride

Tu khud ki khoj mein nikal, Tu kis liye hataash hai;
Tu chal tere vajood ki, samay ko bhi talaash hai!

Solo Bike ride
6 Days
3 State
2000 KM
Countless Memories…

And I rode into the dense forest part of Odisha, Andhra and Chattisgarh, the epic journey of 6 days has been one of the most memorable amongst all the rides till date. Every emotion of human mind was experienced in this sort span, the blood curdling night ride in Naxalite prone area, Camping with mouth-watering biryani, bike accident, getting chased by stranger ( which almost made me feel as if it’s my last ride!), pleasure of bathing naked under the falls, and getting scold CISF for solo riding in so risky zone!

But one thing is for sure, Odisha is incomplete if u hasn’t visited Koraput, Andhra is incomplete without Araku valley And Chattisgarh without Jagdalpur and Bastar.

Kick starting my solo ride from Templecity Bhubaneshwar, night stay at Rushikonda beach, Vizag, witnessing the beauty of sunrise ever over the serene beach; I rode through beach road from Rushikonda to RK beach via kailashgiri and simhachallam temple.

Having breakfast of Idlis, I kick started the bike towards Araku Valley. Though the plan was to

Reached Jeopur before the sun goes to sleep, but the beauty of Araku valley did not allow me to leave the place. I decided to do camp stay amidst the Bonfire on the plateau of Araku. The night was worth remembering and the silent and cold weather at Araku plateau was shivering. The Good Morning view of the sunrise covered with the blanket of clouds from all sides and beneath it were the Sunflower plantation trying to fascinate the morning sun!! The scenic beauty was just similar to the romantic Yash Raj Movies (Though I was solo enjoying the beauty with imagination reaching the sky!)

Arakku Valley

Capturing the moments for life time, I headed towards the massive Borra cave! Amidist the hilly road, people were selling Lip-smacking seekh kabab and bamboo chicken! Riding through the sensitive area of Koraput, where you see all smiling faces everywhere and beautiful heaps of mountains, falls, and abode waterbodies will fade all your fear about Naxalite...however FYI it is totally safe here for travellers!

Dense route passing through Jaraput Dam is eye candy. Along the road, Rani duduma fall, the highest fall of odisha. One of the best falls I witnessed in Odisha. Making the most of the opportunity, I stepped down to the base of fall and took a deep dip! It washed away my stress and tiredness. May be that’s why people say, best cures in the world are free!

Heading towards Jeopor, Jagdalpur entered into the terrified zone of Bastar. The night was dark and there were Paramilitary forces everywhere due to election week. My heart skipped a beat as the route, people everything seemed to be new but at the same time felt relieved seeing smiling faces. Around 8.30 pm reached to the Chitrakote camping site and was astonished by the night view of the fall. The sound of water trembling down the hill side and the flood light focused on it was just like the heaven on hearth! Witnessing such an eye soothing view, all the pain and stress of 1000km just disappears. The sky was filled with smiling stars and I did not wanted to miss this golden opportunity of night photography. So till the dinner was getting ready, I enjoyed clicking beautiful pics and some of the clicks were a real satisfaction to me! Soon the Dal, sabhi, chawal was served in ecological way on the leaves plates.

Next morning was filled with freshly prepared bhajiya with garam chai with the beautiful sunrise over the Chitrakote fall! Finishing the breakfast I walked down to the base of fall and also behind the fall. There is a cave along the length of fall as if many secretes are hidden there. It felt as if u r into some other world, hundreds of shivlings along the length and curtain of waterfall in front of it.

Tirathgarh falls from Top
TirathGarh Falls
Next place planned was Tirathgarh fall which was suggested by some local friends. After watching and enjoying the massive and the wonderful view of Chitrakoot waterfall, honestly I was not expecting much from Tirathgarh fall.

The road towards the Tirathgarh fall was giving hint about its beauty. The route was covered with dense green forest on both the sides and the view was soothing to the eyes. As soon as I reached the fall, I was speechless due to the lovely view. It was far beyond my expectation.

All the sides covered with hills like a cave open on top, and the eyeful falls.

There is a temple there and as you climb towards temple, you will get to see two more waterfalls. There was not even single human being there, just got naked and had a dip.

Thanks I had a carried a float with me, else wouldn't have thought of jumping into that stream pond.

It was getting dark and the sun was about to set so rested for the day in Jagdalpur.

The plan was to return via Sambhalpur route. However was so amused by koraput that I changed the route via Damanjodi, Rayagad.

Towards, Deomali Hill
Koraput is bliss for Odisha. The vast Deomali hilly range is marvellous. And riding to the top of the highest hill of Odisha is like icing on the cake. The view from highest point of Odisha was thrilling. Passing through Damanjodi towards Rayagad, visited the splendid hanging bridge. Beautiful graffiti of odiya culture along the street walls of Rayagada was impressive.

A wrong route from Rayagada to Behrempur and ended with worst nightmare.
I have been riding solo at so many places like Himalayas, Uttarakhand, terrified zone of Chattisgarh, but never got so tensed as on this route. 60km stretch was so horrible .That there was no road at all just the route and the silent night! Not a single vehicle, I almost thought as if I was the last human left on earth!

As I was deeply engrossed in my thoughts a bike approaching from behind left me cold blooded! I speeded up my bike till the point I get out of his sight and then bhoommm….. There was a big pothole and bike got skid. Luckily there was no major injury. But my bike was hurt, its headlight was broken into pieces, footrest broke down and even the rear mirror damaged. However I managed to cover the rest part of this horrible road till Berhampur.

My average speed was 70km/hr. However this 50 km took 4 hrs.

Reached around 11 pm to Berhampur and decided to rest for the day.
Reaching safely to Bhubaneshwar finished the last solo ride of year 2018 with lots of memories and experiences to remember for lifetime!

  2. You're a good blogger, but an awful human being who loves to spread communal hatred.
